The Avant-Gardians
The Avant-Gardians draw on a collectively diverse range of musical idioms, resulting in performances that are fresh, engaging, sometimes weird, and always uniquely beautiful. Initially a collaboration of college friends, the Matthew Miller Group is comprised of musicians who continue to play in varying combinations and settings throughout the Chicagoland area. This edition of the group focuses on interpretations of spirituals, jazz standards, and modern compositions all deeply rooted in the jazz tradition.
